TriadTweetup joined Twitter on Saturday, August 9th, 2008, at 6:30pm. Hence, it’s our birthday! We are very excited to celebrate 3 years of Tweetups!

As far as we know, we were the first Tweetup group in the Triad. We’ve always had fun oriented Tweetups. From Taco Tuesdays, to dinner parties, to watching movies, to bike rides… We want our Tweetups to be across the board, and most importantly, we want them to be fun!

This Thursday, the 28th of April, Carolina Theatre is hosting a viewing a Transformers: The Movie – the 1986 classic!

I realize this site is dedicated to “tweeting”, but Tweeting is a type of microblogging (blogging being the operative part of that compound word).

I’m excited to bring blogging events up on the Triad Tweetup radar! And the Triad is FULL of them!

Since I’ve been participating in online culture, I’ve gravitated more towards the shorthand speech of controlled bursts of communication: Microblogs. However, this past year Blogging has become an valuable contribution to my online experience. Reading blogs has been like having millions of magazines at my finger tips.

Writing blog posts is an imaginative form of expression. It can be as simple as a few words, or a vast multimedia experience with video, insights and conversations.

On Tuesday, April 19th, at Darryl’s Woodfired Grill in Greensboro, Jeff SanGeorge (owner of Connect Marketing and Design) is presenting his Blogging 102 talk. I’ve been looking forward to this Linking Greensboro Luncheon. I’m hoping to blog about it.

Sign up for the Bourbon Tasting Tweetup on Eventbrite!

A few years ago I switched from beer to bourbon. I always felt so “full” (aka bloated!) when I drank beer. So I decided, I’m a man in my early 30′s, I deserve something more refined. So I headed down to the ABC store (yes we are Southern and they don’t allow us those sinful liqueur stores in our neck of the woods).

I selected Woodford Reserve as my first foray into bourbon. I really enjoyed it, so I proceeded across the top shelf, and zig-zagged by way down the shelves all the way to Evan Williams. I had begun to develop a taste for the various bourbons, and had absolutely no idea why I liked what I liked! But I definitely like certain ones.

Woodford Reserve remains a favorite. Knob Creek is a great runner up. When I met David Scheumann, CPA (aka @scheumanncpa) for drinks one night I recounted my journey and explained I needed a bit of guidance. I needed someone to show me the why of what I preferred. I was amazed at David’s knowledge of bourbons. He proceeded into a 20 minute explaination of the history of Knob Creek, and that led us into Bookers.

Bookers is the Goliath of bourbons. It’s 120 proof, amazingly flavorful, and one of the best bourbons I’ve ever tasted. Bookers is truly a gentleman’s drink. I won’t try to explain the nuances – that’s what we have our David for.

Bicycle Tweetup

A HUGE THANK YOU to @dcaton for his help in organizing this Tweetup!

This is going to be a fun TriadTweetup! Grab your bicycles and let’s get our rollin! Cycles De Oro is generously sponsoring this event with prize giveaways. We’ll hold the drawing at Country Park. You have to be there in person to participate in the drawing, so don’t be late!

You don’t have to be a hard core bicyclist for this ride. We’re going to take a leisurely ride through Country Park in Greensboro. We selected this park because it’s mostly a car-free zone.

If you aren’t the bike riding type, no worries! We’d still love for you to join us back at Stick & Stones after the ride!

Our Bicycle Tweetup is brought to you by Cycles De Oro and Stick & Stones.

We’ll start at Country Park in Greensboro at 6PM. Park as close to the gate past the tennis center as possible. Down past all those baseball fields.

After we ride for an hour or two we’ll head over to Stick & Stones for an after-ride drink and some dinner (if you’re hungry). Stick & Stones will have some specials for us. I’ll post those as soon as I have the details!
